Who we are

We build the conditions that earn smiles.

Make Them Smile Foundation is a youth-led, volunteer-driven non-profit registered in Buea, South-West Cameroon since April 2022.

Our mission

To empower individuals and communities through health promotion, skills development, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership initiatives that create lasting social impact.

Our vision

A future where empowered young people lead thriving communities, drive innovation, and create sustainable solutions.

Our story

Four years, massive impact.

  1. 2022

    Founded in Buea

Registered in April 2022 as a non-profit association by volunteers in Molyko, Buea. First activities: orphanage outreach in Kumba, a World Malaria Day clean-up with SAS Foundation, cholera sensitization at Muea with The Brains Association, and a women's skills workshop at Kumba Central Prison.

  2. 2023

    Skills and outreach widen

Sponsored Ankara fashion training with Lambo Fashionista, orphanage outreach in Bomaka, the first menstrual hygiene campaign at Vasingi Village, a youth summit with Her Strength Initiative, and blood donation drives at Kumba Regional Hospital Annex.

  3. 2024

    OYOD 2024

The first One Youth One Dream conference in Buea — 1,359 registrations, approximately 600 participants. Menstrual hygiene campaign at Wonyalyonga and blood drives with Blood Track and HERO Cameroon.

  4. 2025

    Campaigns become annual

Health awareness, blood donation and menstrual hygiene campaigns settle into recurring yearly programmes around internationally observed health days.

  5. 2026

    OYOD 2026

Edition 02 — 17 October 2026 at Chariot Banquet Hall, Buea. Building healthy futures through youth leadership, innovation and community action.

Our values

Four rules we can be held to.

Dignity

Nobody is a case file. We use names, and we ask before we photograph.

Specificity

A named campaign in a named community beats a pledge to improve health.

Transparency

We name our partners, our communities and our numbers — and we correct them in the open as they're verified.

Community

The people who live with the problem design the programme with us.

The team

Volunteer-led, youth-run.
